A Community Mural Project
GALLERY
Various community workshops participants decorated tiles by stamping images into the clay or writing text. Some chose to inscribe words or messages important to them onto the clay. These individual, hand made tiles are stand-alone art works that became integrated into the overall mural design. This process, then, empowered participants to express themselves in the process of creating art, such that each person has a voice in the final piece of art. Consequently, this unique process under Ms. Montemayor’s guidance became an avenue for individual self-exploration and community building.
